About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive revenue and market share for the assigned portfolio and account base, spending 80% of working time in market
  • Develop beverage and marketing strategies and growth plans for assigned categories or suppliers
  • Research trends, categories, and portfolios to support supplier goals
  • Present new products and beverage offerings and conduct monthly business reviews with key accounts
  • Collaborate with Trade Development and Sales management to accelerate new brand launches
  • Plan high-end consumer activations within key accounts
  • Provide real-time market insights and report field intelligence for the assigned territory and categories
  • Collaborate with on-premise and retail sales teams to develop creative growth solutions
  • Develop and deliver training modules for sales teams, customers, and suppliers
  • Establish merchandising objectives, define POS needs, and obtain appropriate category distribution
  • Analyze accounts to identify opportunities and determine specific account needs
  • Own account plans and execute brand plans
  • Conduct staff education and build category knowledge
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and gatekeepers of assigned accounts
  • Participate in supplier and category-specific work-with sales calls
  • Facilitate account visits and dinners for dignitaries and supplier representatives
  • Drive market share in retail or on-premise accounts
  • For retail accounts, focus on facings, placement, cold box share, displays, and planogram placement
  • For on-premise accounts, focus on wine menu placement, BTG, monthly features, and staff training
  • Handle beverage alcohol products responsibly and conduct safe interactions with the public
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in sales or industry-related and category expertise experience for category-specific roles
  • Fine Wine Accreditation, preferably WSET Level 2 or similar (CSW, Level II Court of Master Sommeliers), must be in process or completed within 6 months
  • In-depth understanding of wine styles, different regions and grapes, aging potential for various wines, and specific flavor profiles
  • Specialized knowledge of the supported category or responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other computer programs, including presentation software
  • Verbal and written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion, plus customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines
  • Analytic and reporting skills
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment
  • Preferred: on-premise/hospitality experience in a management capacity
  • Preferred: strong understanding or background of consumer engagement mechanics
  • Preferred: previous experience with a wine supplier or distributor
