About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Rotate through different territories and fill open territories as needed to maximize sales of supplier brands to the trade
  • Assist the Merchandising Department during particularly heavy merchandising periods
  • Call on accounts and cover daily routes using an efficient routing pattern
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations addressing company priorities and customer needs
  • Sell display ideas, new products, cold box, shelf, back bar placements and resets, drink and wine lists, and promotions
  • Maintain product levels by taking inventory and restocking shelves where legal
  • Maximize brand visibility using current point-of-sale materials
  • Collect and deliver account payments where legally permissible
  • Conduct educational staff training seminars on brands
  • Deliver products in extenuating circumstances and handle or refer customer issues and complaints
  • Preplan sales and merchandising strategies using pricing and product programming information
  • Maintain accurate historical account purchase information
  • Ensure national account compliance by completing required surveys
  • Achieve supplier-brand distribution, volume, and activity goals
  • Process credits and returns and communicate with accounts regarding aged receivables
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly sales meetings
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales
  • Basic PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
  • Results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Analytic and reporting skills
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to hold a Solicitor’s Permit preferred
  • Understanding of wine and spirits preferred
  • Ability to stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone
  • Ability to reach overhead, squat, bend, and carry/lift 45–65 pounds
