About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary academic and administrative leader for the College of Fine Arts and Humanities
  • Report directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Provide strategic leadership and manage academic operations
  • Advocate for faculty, staff, and students
  • Maintain a teaching load of 9 credit hours (3 courses) per academic year
  • Foster continuous improvement of academic programs and degree tracks
  • Promote faculty scholarship, research initiatives, and creative activity
  • Mentor and evaluate department chairs, faculty, and administrative staff
  • Support professional growth, leadership development, and faculty promotion
  • Partner with admissions on student recruitment, enrollment growth, and program outreach
  • Champion student success, academic advising, and retention initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge of accreditation guidelines and ensure compliance
  • Direct short- and long-term strategic planning
  • Oversee budget allocation, resource management, fundraising, and grant efforts
  • Build partnerships with industry leaders, community organizations, and alumni
  • Expand external outreach to enhance regional reputation and workforce alignment
  • Serve on the Academic Council and other University committees
  • Perform strategic duties and institutional initiatives as directed by the Provost
  • Supervise, manage, and motivate individuals or teams to achieve departmental goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree/credentials from an institutionally accredited university
  • Teaching, research, and service commensurate with appointment to the rank of full professor
  • Prior experience in academic administration
  • Experience in policy and staff development
  • Demonstrated student advocacy and responsive leadership within a higher education environment
  • Leadership in assessment and accreditation agencies affecting school programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and resolve conflict across stakeholder groups
  • Commitment to building enrollment while maintaining high-quality academic programs
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Successful completion of required employment screenings
  • Required professional degrees, licenses, or certifications must be submitted at application
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and good driving record required only for university travel or vehicle operation
