About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing care for patients in the acute care medical and surgical inpatient unit
  • Participate as part of a multidisciplinary/inter-professional team
  • Assess, treat, teach, and educate patients
  • Teach and coach patients and families
  • Maintain documentation records according to College of Nurses Standards
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace and follow health and safety policies and procedures
  • Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies, professional regulatory standards, and nursing best practices
  • Complete regular professional development, annual training, and education
  • Participate in unit, department, and hospital quality improvement initiatives
  • Promote and advocate for an enhanced patient experience
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and hospital multidisciplinary teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid BCLS maintained throughout employment period
  • Current medical/surgical experience preferred
  • I.V. Therapy experience preferred
  • Telemetry experience preferred
  • Computer literacy is an asset
  • Teaching experience is an asset
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Good attendance and availability required
  • Ability to provide patient care within an inter-professional environment
  • Ability to teach and coach patients and families
  • Ability to maintain documentation in accordance with College of Nurses Standards
  • Compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and nursing best practices
  • Ability to maintain professional competence through regular professional development, training, and education
