About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing care for patients in the acute care medical and surgical inpatient unit
  • Perform patient assessment, treatment, teaching, and education
  • Teach and coach patients and families
  • Maintain documentation records according to College of Nurses Standards
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary/inter-professional team and Program Manager
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace and follow health and safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in unit, department, and hospital quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and annual training
  • Promote and advocate for an enhanced patient experience
  • Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies, professional regulatory standards, and nursing best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid BCLS certification maintained throughout employment
  • Preference for current medical/surgical experience
  • Preference for I.V. Therapy experience
  • Preference for Telemetry experience
  • Computer literacy would be an asset
  • Teaching experience would be an asset
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Good attendance and availability
  • Ability to provide patient care within an inter-professional environment
  • Ability to maintain documentation in accordance with College of Nurses Standards
  • Compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and nursing best practices
  • Commitment to regular professional development, annual training, and education
