About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide nursing care to patients in the acute care medical and surgical department
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary/inter-professional team
- Assess and treat patients
- Teach and educate patients and families
- Provide coaching to patients and families
- Maintain documentation records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and follow health and safety policies and procedures
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and annual training
- Participate in unit/department and hospital quality improvement initiatives
- Promote and advocate for an enhanced patient experience
- Work closely with the Program Manager and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid BCLS certification maintained throughout employment
- Preference given to candidates with current medical/surgical experience
- Preference given to candidates with I.V. Therapy experience
- Preference given to candidates with Telemetry experience
- Computer literacy would be an asset
- Teaching experience would be an asset
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Good attendance and availability required
- Ability to maintain documentation records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards
- Ability to practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and nursing best practices
- Ability to complete regular professional development, annual training, and education
- Ability to participate in unit/department and hospital quality improvement initiatives
