About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Align business objectives with associates and management for communities within an assigned region
  • Serve as a consultant to management on human-resource-related issues
  • Assess and anticipate HR-related needs and communicate proactively with Centers of Expertise and Operational Leadership
  • Develop and implement HR policies and strategic initiatives in compliance with state and federal laws
  • Provide guidance on hiring, compensation, performance management, benefits, and associate-related matters
  • Manage and resolve complex associate-relations issues and conduct thorough, objective investigations
  • Monitor counseling, corrective action, performance improvement plans, involuntary terminations, separation notices, and exit interviews
  • Advise leadership on hiring decisions, equal employment opportunity, compensation, benefits, and health and safety
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and partner with Legal to reduce risk and ensure compliance
  • Conduct wage analysis and partner with the Compensation Center of Expertise on adjustments and recommendations
  • Analyze HR trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and talent strategies
  • Partner with Talent Management on community training and talent-management initiatives
  • Ensure Integrity Line alerts are investigated thoroughly and promptly
  • Support community transitions related to acquisitions and dispositions
  • Promote positive associate relations through surveys, climate studies, and skip-level meetings
  • Respond to union organizing and train managers on awareness and follow-up
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential preferred
  • Advanced working knowledge of compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, associate relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve diverse problems with limited precedents or guidelines
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, or nights as needed for shift coverage
  • On-call availability as needed
  • Frequent travel required
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to interact with coworkers, residents, and vendors
  • Ability to work in environments involving potential exposure to communicable diseases, latex, blood-borne pathogens, drugs, chemicals, infectious or biological hazards
  • Must meet requirements of a drug-free workplace
