About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform policy service activities primarily by phone and electronically
- Handle policy status requests, certificates of insurance, renewal follow-up requests, and related tasks
- Assist underwriters with agency support activities and complete transactions in a first-time-final mode
- Accept, modify, or decline lower-complexity business according to policies, practices, and standards
- Determine accurate risk classifications and match price and product to customers
- Make endorsement decisions and determine applicable markets and qualifying risks
- Research information from multiple sources to support underwriting analysis
- Review individual risks for acceptability based on carrier guidelines, state regulations, and surplus lines requirements
- Consult with agents and internal and external partners regarding customer service activities
- Recommend opportunities for internal process design and operation
- Plan assignments to meet timelines and service level agreements
- Provide agency service, route calls and higher-level issues, and assist brokerage specialists
- Maintain customer, peer, and team relationships through quality service
- Contribute to profitable book growth, policies in force, and premium
Requirements
What you’ll need- P&C License and Surplus Lines License or L&H License in all states (if required by product line) required within 45 days
- Undergraduate studies in business administration or related field of study; degree preferred
- One year of related insurance experience preferred
- Will consider undergraduate degree in lieu of experience
- Ability to perform policy service activities by phone and electronically within established time and service standards
- Ability to handle policy status requests, certificates of insurance, renewal follow-up requests, and related tasks
- Ability to evaluate risks using multiple carriers' underwriting guidelines, state regulations, and surplus lines requirements
- Ability to determine risk classifications, applicable markets, qualifying risks, and endorsement acceptability
- Ability to research information from multiple sources and capture verbal or electronic data
- Ability to prioritize work and meet timelines and service level agreements
- Ability to communicate effectively with agencies and internal and external partners
