About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and manage Brown University Health’s Compliance Program
- Maintain and continuously improve the effectiveness of the compliance program
- Develop and maintain compliance metrics and data analytics
- Monitor compliance work plan activities
- Manage the Conflict of Interest process and reporting
- Manage the System Wide Exclusion Process
- Lead Revenue Compliance auditing, clinician education, and selected auditing activity
- Review non-employed clinician and physician agreements, including database management and fair market value assessment
- Manage compliance and privacy policy reviews under the Annual Compliance Plan
- Direct compliance risk assessments, data analysis, mitigations, and follow-up activities
- Plan, manage, and update investigation tools and protocols
- Lead data integrity efforts, risk identification, and trending
- Co-lead development of the annual Compliance & Privacy work plan
- Collaborate with executive leadership, operational staff, Legal Services, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk
- Monitor emerging compliance and privacy risks, technology, trends, and best practices
- Engage, mentor, and develop assigned staff
- Facilitate the System Policy process, workplans, dashboards, communications, and committee reporting
- Provide direct supervision for up to ten FTEs, including selection, scheduling, training, performance appraisals, and personnel recommendations
- Perform independently and refer unusual problems to the Vice President, Corporate Compliance & Internal Audit and Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, political science, or health care policy required
- Master’s degree desirable
- Certified compliance professional designation such as CHC or CHPC preferred from the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) designation preferred; CPC strongly recommended
- Four to seven years of healthcare compliance and privacy-related experience required
- Previous management experience, or four years of escalating responsibility and work experience in compliance and/or privacy, including progressive program and project management roles in large and complex organizations
- Effective written and oral communication, planning, follow-up, critical thinking, diplomacy, and project management skills
- Understanding of coding, billing, access, and provider enrollment functions in Revenue Cycle
- Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid regulations
- Ability to work independently within administrative policies and procedures
- Ability to supervise up to ten FTEs
