About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide analysis and programming to support selection, implementation, and ongoing support of application software and interfaces
  • Orient and train new employees, schedule assigned employees, provide guidance and counsel, and provide input to performance appraisals
  • Meet with user departments, Information Services staff, and vendors to define and resolve application system problems
  • Analyze problems and determine efficient and economical programming solutions
  • Develop specifications; design, code, test, debug, document, and install software programs
  • Test and update software products with new releases
  • Evaluate new software products for applicability to current and future environments
  • Coordinate testing and installation of vendor software packages and modifications
  • Design, program, test, and install interfaces among systems with disparate hardware and software configurations
  • Modify, maintain, and enhance existing software using maintenance releases, vendor utilities, and available Information Services resources
  • Direct preparation of manuals and training materials and train user personnel
  • Manage complex multidisciplinary Information Services projects, including planning, task assignment, and implementation
  • Maintain technical knowledge through seminars and professional literature
  • Participate in councils, quality improvement teams, and committees
  • Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control according to hospital and departmental policies
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field required
  • A combination of computer-related technical training and successively increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for a degree
  • Three years experience in programming and systems design
  • Functional supervision of up to 3 full-time equivalent employees
  • Work is performed in a typical office setting
  • Availability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
  • No driving required
