About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take over day-to-day business operations so the CEO can focus on strategy, vision and growth
Own finance, legal, people and operations end to end
Initially oversee growth and sales, including the Head of Sales & Partnerships, until a growth and revenue leader joins
Review finance, legal, contracts, payroll, compliance and decision-making during the first 90 days
Design the operations, finance, legal and people functions, including hiring plans
Improve and standardize audits, curator contracts and fundraising paperwork
Own budgeting, cash management, forecasting, reporting and the financial model
Lead the Head of Finance and oversee marketplace payments, payouts, reconciliation and tax
Set revenue and growth targets with the CEO and ensure delivery
Own curator and supply partnership contracts and manage external law firms and legal spend
Maintain compliance across jurisdictions, including entities, data protection and payments regulation
Run fundraising operations, investment documents, shareholder resolutions, cap table and equity administration
Own financial and investor reporting and due diligence readiness
Manage payroll, contractors, compensation and equity administration with the Head of People
Translate the CEO’s vision into company goals and plans, track progress and hold teams accountable
Act on the CEO’s behalf when she is travelling or unavailable
Build functions hands-on and hire additional team members as work grows

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience as a COO, Head of Operations, Chief of Staff, finance leader or founder at a fast-growing tech startup
Experience in consumer tech, travel tech or fintech, ideally a marketplace
Experience through Series A and beyond
Deep hands-on finance experience
Understanding of payments and money flows in a marketplace
Comfortable with contracts, fundraising documents and multi-country compliance
Ability to lead senior people across finance, legal and operations
Assertive, direct and resistant to unnecessary complexity
Problem-solving, hands-on approach
Discreet, honest and quick to share bad news
Nice to have: experience with EU company structures, ideally Estonian
Nice to have: experience with marketplace payments or event ticketing
Nice to have: background in investment banking, consulting or audit
