About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain the Buenro platform
Work closely with Frontend/Mobile and Systems & Platform teams
Develop and maintain backend infrastructure
Build new features and functionality for the Buenro platform
Implement robust, maintainable backend services using Node.js and NestJS
Debug production issues across the stack using logs, metrics, and traces
Improve backend APIs and middleware
Optimize authentication and RBAC/ABAC practices
Work with message queues and in-memory databases to improve performance and efficiency
Deliver low-latency, secure, and fault-tolerant backend solutions
Ensure world-class availability, performance, and scalability

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 5+ years of experience in backend applications and API development
Expert-level proficiency in Node.js and NestJS, including dependency injection, guards, interceptors, modules, and decorators
Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, including advanced types, generics, utility types, and strict mode
Strong MongoDB skills, including indexes, aggregation pipelines, sharding, replica sets, and schema design
Strong PostgreSQL skills, including complex joins, transactions, and JSONB
Prisma ORM expertise, including schema modeling, migrations, query optimization, and middleware
Production experience with GitHub Actions, including workflows, secrets, matrix builds, and reusable actions
Production experience with Terraform, including modules, state management, providers, and drift detection
Production experience with AWS ECS, including task definitions, service networking, load balancing, IAM roles, and CloudWatch
Strong understanding of RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger, JWT authentication, and rate limiting
Expertise with NoSQL databases, document modeling, data denormalization, consistency models, and performance tuning in distributed environments
Deep understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and message queues such as SQS and RabbitMQ
Familiarity with unit testing using Jest, integration testing, and end-to-end testing with Supertest and Playwright
Experience with microservices, domain-driven design, and CQRS patterns is a plus
Front-end experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js is a strong plus
Previous experience leading teams and coaching or mentoring engineers is a strong plus
Ability to work remotely within a timezone difference of approximately +/- 3–4 hours from CET
