About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor the SOC’s main event tools for security events
  • Investigate alerts and perform incident triage, determining scope, urgency, and potential impact
  • Close or escalate security events and incidents as appropriate
  • Identify incident impact on systems and determine whether data was infiltrated
  • Document shift logs, tickets, procedures, and knowledge-base entries
  • Maintain knowledge of IDS/IPS alarms, including false positives, false negatives, blacklists, and whitelists
  • Gather and leverage intelligence from internal and external sources
  • Escalate incidents to applicable Bulletproof entities or customers for remediation
  • Build relationships with other Bulletproof operations units to strengthen customer security posture
  • Track incidents through final resolution
  • Drive the Information Fusion Procedure by gathering, analyzing, and presenting actionable data
  • Conduct long-term analysis of customer network activity
  • Create custom detection logic for unique or previously undetectable attacks
  • Provide security and information assurance policy recommendations as a work-area expert
  • Execute documented SOC operational tasks and subordinate procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Cybersecurity degree or 2-4 years helpdesk or network support experience, or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background
  • Microsoft SC-200 certification or ability to obtain it while working
  • Background in networking or security, including intrusion detection/prevention
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience with PCs, LAN topologies, routers, hubs, switches, and terminal servers
  • Knowledge of IDS, IPS, SEM, SIEM, and anomaly detection tools
  • Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems or CRM systems
  • Understanding of protocol analyzers, LAN/WAN sniffers, and similar test and analysis equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams
  • Ability to read and understand packet captures
  • Basic understanding of the OSI model
  • Strong interpersonal and user service skills
  • Knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with trouble, fault, and incident management processes
  • Understanding of network management concepts and software, including SNMP
  • Ability to work onsite from the start of employment
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including day and night shifts, on a 4-days-on/4-days-off schedule
  • Security+, SSCP, and other technical security certifications are preferred but not required
