About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee daily operations, strategy and execution of international drayage activity into the West Coast
- Manage relationships with 3PLs and local DC team members
- Optimize a cost-effective, service-centric and high-performing West Coast transportation network
- Apply expertise in drayage, marine terminal and DC yard operations
- Mitigate delays, demurrage and detention costs
- Pursue data integrity across the drayage management and billing process
- Provide analytical support for bid optimization, carrier negotiations and contract reviews
- Develop and maintain transportation analytics from origin booking through DC delivery
- Mentor and guide International Logistics Specialists I and II
- Back up specialist and manager duties as needed
- Maintain KPIs and create and analyze quantitative reports
- Evaluate service provider performance and hold providers accountable to service levels
- Own and update service provider SOPs
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend tools and solutions
- Optimize imported-product flow and drive cost savings
- Complete projects assigned by management
- Manage international transportation vendor and supplier relationships
- Support import treasury accrual by validating and supplying accurate data
- Resolve discrepancies urgently
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Supply Chain Management
- 10+ years of international import operations/logistics experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and special attention to detail
- Ability to work in a creative team environment
- Ability to coach, train, develop and mentor international logistics specialists and analysts
- Ability to prioritize multiple duties and communicate status and impact as needed
- Willingness to accept projects with increased impact responsibility
- Trained and well versed in rules and regulations of the International Supply Chain
- Strong understanding of financial impact, contracts and shipping operations
- Personal computer proficiency
- Strong knowledge of Team Sheets, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
