About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the organization’s payroll function
- Ensure timely and accurate pay for all associates
- Manage payroll reporting throughout the business
- Configure and maintain payroll systems
- Manage Analysts and Specialists
- Contribute to payroll policies and procedures
- Ensure payroll workstreams are optimal and efficient
- Oversee data collection, payroll calculation, system uploads, paycheck issuance, and electronic transfers
- Manage payroll research, analysis, troubleshooting, systems administration, and internal/external questions
- Select and hire team members, allocate work, train and develop staff, and recommend personnel actions and compensation
- Lead, motivate, and evaluate direct reports; set team and individual goals and objectives
- Ensure integrity, confidentiality, legislative compliance, internal reporting compliance, and SOX compliance for payroll processes
- Audit payroll results
- Partner with other departments and external vendors
- Ensure analysis and reports highlight actionable findings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (business, finance, accounting preferred)
- 5-7+ years’ relevant experience
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Payroll/Accounting/Financial Systems
- Working knowledge of BI Reporting is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function
- Familiarity with Workday Payroll and ADP systems preferred
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and hour laws
- In-depth knowledge of payroll and accounting, including process, procedures, internal controls, and financial statements
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Effective communication with senior management, peers, and staff
- Strong team leadership and customer service skills
- Innovative thinking and problem-solving ability
- Associate management skills, including developing, training, and coaching team
- Planning and resourcing skills
- Ability to maintain payroll information confidentiality
- Ability to ensure SOX compliance and legislative compliance
