About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide implementation functions for DISA networking and infrastructure projects.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of DISA/DOD IT network infrastructure to technical assignments.
- Perform equipment installations, including network infrastructure build-out, mounting telecommunication hardware, cable/fiber installation, terminations, testing, and pre-commissioning.
- Report installation status and completion with thoroughness and accuracy.
- Lead teams of Installation Technicians and organize on-site efforts to bring hardware to operational acceptance.
- Install site infrastructure including racks, cable racks, power, grounding, and cabling.
- Direct, task, and organize a team of 1 to 2 Network Installation Technicians from deployment to installation close-out.
- Utilize baseline equipment connectivity diagrams to resolve site-specific connectivity challenges.
- Communicate with Test and Acceptance staff to ensure remote access to network devices.
- Install networking hardware and software, including pre-commissioning hardware with base configurations.
- Perform circuit wiring, inspection, testing, and activation.
- Decommission and de-install network nodes.
- Manage completion reports and status reports with detailed network configuration documentation.
- Install network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic material, switches, firewalls, and timing and synchronization equipment.
- Perform small to large-sized installations with minimal oversight.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required.
- 3+ years of experience including network infrastructure build-out, mounting telecommunication hardware, cable/fiber installation, cable/fiber terminations and cable/fiber testing.
- 3+ years of experience installing network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic material, switches, firewalls, timing and synchronization and communications devices.
- Prior hands-on experience with Ciena 6500/Ciena RSL/Ciena Wave Server products is highly desirable.
- BICSI Certification.
- OEM networking certifications.
- Must be familiar with ANSI/TIA standards.
- Must have the ability to work independently or as a leader of a team.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft office products (PowerPoint, Excel, VISIO, and Word) as necessary for reporting, redlining, and communicating.
- Active Secret clearance; or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Candidates may be based anywhere in the US but must be open to at least 70% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Ability to type, communicate via telephone and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) more than 50lbs.
