About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work from established requirements and use established software engineering processes to develop software systems, subsystems, and system enhancements
Complete detailed design and development work independently for individual software components
Integrate developed products individually and/or at the subsystem level
Follow software engineering standards
Assist senior engineers in software system or subsystem development and documentation efforts
Adhere to schedules and stay within established budgets
Design and develop software functionality based on established requirements and specifications
Prepare technical data and presentation material to support design reviews
Participate in and conduct software peer reviews to validate adherence to established coding and implementation standards
Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant degree
Minimum 4 years of experience as software developer
Designs and develop software applications following established requirements and specifications using the appropriate tools
Maintains and modifies existing software applications with minimal supervision
Experience developing new software functionality and enhancing existing software
Experience testing developed software in accordance with specified test procedures and resolving identified discrepancies and deficiencies
Experience debugging, troubleshooting and fixing reported software issues
Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
Preferred: Experience supporting military, government, or technical training programs
Preferred: Proficiency in C# or other object oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java
Preferred: Experience developing or supporting web-based applications
Preferred: Experience defining and working with text-based structured data such as JSON and XML
Preferred: Experience with Modeling and simulation applications
Preferred: Experience working with and executing established software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
Preferred: Experience developing software applications using gaming engines such as Unity and/or Unreal Engine
Preferred: Experience with Flight Simulator Development and Delivery
Preferred: Experience with Wartsila NTPRO
