About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as contractual and commercial support in bidding for and managing contracts
  • Provide commercially reasonable contractual solutions to Defence and Security Strategy, Business Development, and Programmes teams within CAE EMEA
  • Serve as a customer contact for contractual matters and establish customer relationships and communications
  • Review customer-proposed contractual agreements and provide CAE’s position with legal counsel
  • Participate in business-winning bid teams
  • Generate commercial responses to customer RFPs
  • Assist with proposal documentation, including commercial volumes, risk and opportunity registers, and compliance matrices
  • Conduct commercial and contractual reviews of proposal documents
  • Support development and implementation of negotiation strategies
  • Participate in customer contract negotiations in support of Sales/Business Development and Programme teams
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts and amendments with CAE legal counsel and arrange approvals
  • Provide guidance on compliance with customer contract terms and flow-down requirements to subcontractors
  • Support subcontract negotiations
  • Identify contractual liabilities, risks, issues, and disputes and develop mitigation plans with CAE legal
  • Maintain contractual records, correspondence documentation, status reports, and issue reports
  • Support compliance with corporate policies and procedures for bidding and contract management
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting bids and managing commercial contracts within the defence, aerospace or government procurement environment
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and MoD terms and conditions (e.g., DEFCONS, public procurement)
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure within bid/project teams and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and MS Project
  • Ability to operate within a hybrid work environment (3 days per week in the office)
  • Willingness to travel up to ~25% within EMEA
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation
  • Experience working within defence or aerospace programs involving government stakeholders
  • Familiarity with subcontract negotiation processes
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, BD)
