About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with internal systems engineering teams and vendors to design and implement virtualization environments
  • Develop processes and procedures for administering and supporting virtualization environments
  • Build, configure, and maintain virtualized clients, servers, and architecture
  • Oversee subcontractors and vendors performing installations and configurations
  • Migrate existing systems into virtualization environments and support future designs and expansions
  • Coordinate technical support staff on assigned projects
  • Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to develop, implement, and document compliant processes and procedures
  • Design, recommend, and deploy emerging server virtualization technologies
  • Support multi-vendor server environments, including HP, Dell, and Nutanix
  • Monitor and provide break/fix support for enterprise virtualized systems
  • Tune system performance and diagnose symptoms and root causes
  • Respond to and resolve service outages and interruptions
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend tools and technologies for server virtualization
  • Identify trends and abnormalities and proactively prevent performance impacts to the virtual environment and business functions
  • Perform proactive support functions and reporting to maintain enterprise virtual environment integrity
  • Lead research, planning, and implementation of server virtualization projects aligned with IT goals
  • Provide ongoing training and technical direction to team members on virtualization optimization, installation, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or related field required
  • Minimum of seven (7+) years of experience administering VMware environments
  • Minimum of seven (7+) years of experience administering Microsoft environments
  • Experience supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure in a 24x7x365 environment
  • Proficiency and experience with VMware products, including VMware vCloud, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, or similar virtualization platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization and hyperconverged concepts and principles, including VMware vSphere/vCenter/VMware Cloud Foundation, Nutanix AOS, and Dell VxRail
  • Experience managing VCSA/vCenter and creating VMs and templates
  • Understanding of network services in virtualized environments, including vSwitch, VLAN, and vMotion
  • In-depth experience deploying VMware products and managing virtualized environments, including HA, DRS, resource allocation, snapshot management, VMDKs, datastores, vMotion, and VUM
  • Strong knowledge of PowerShell/PowerCLI
  • Strong understanding of modern cybersecurity principles applied to virtualized environments, including privileged access management and securing hypervisor management planes
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server platforms running in virtual environments and their interactions with hypervisors
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Ability to secure and maintain gaming permits in multiple jurisdictions as required
  • Excellent time management, organization, interpersonal, communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to document infrastructure using Visio and other tools
  • Preferred certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
  • Preferred/plus experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Unix-style operating systems
  • Ability to rapidly learn new concepts and technologies
  • Ability to travel occasionally when necessary
