About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own end-to-end feature validation, including requirements definition, test planning, and quality signoff
- Partner with the Tech Lead to define automation plans and test strategies for large projects
- Create test plans and maintain automation frameworks for APIs, iOS and Android mobile applications, and desktop applications
- Drive non-functional testing and manage load testing for large features
- Monitor automation results, address failures, and optimize test runners and framework performance
- Build, maintain, and optimize test pipelines within CI/CD workflows
- Coach developers on unit and integration testing
- Participate in UAT and suggest application improvements
- Identify risks, promote testing best practices, and address automation coverage gaps
- Demonstrate automation tests, raise defects, and advocate for resolution in triage sessions
- Support internal tools and frameworks and contribute to the broader Automation QA strategy
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to scalable, testable systems
- Foster relationships with cross-functional partners and support team development
- Communicate cross-functional plans and manage collaborative projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of progressive experience as a QA Automation Engineer or SDET in an Agile environment, including demonstrated technical leadership
- Ability to start something from scratch and explain and teach it to others
- Very strong knowledge of Selenium/Appium behavior, with expertise in mobile (iOS/Android), API, and UI automation
- Ability to inspect and reverse engineer UI automation frameworks, and fine-tune runners, performance, and reliability
- Ability to conduct advanced API interrogation using manual tools and write scripts to link API calls and verify fields
- Ability to create UI-based load testing scenarios and manage load testing for large features
- Ability to use automated security tooling (e.g. Burp)
- Strong coding skills in JavaScript or TypeScript, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Deep understanding of CI/CD practices and experience with tools such as GitLab CI/CD
- Expertise in API/RESTful service testing, risk-based testing, and automation strategy development
- Familiarity with Jira and strong organizational skills for documenting and managing test cases in Zephyr
- Experience testing in cloud-native environments, with exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
- Experience with BrowserStack, SauceLabs, or LambdaTest for Appium test automation is strongly preferred
- Exposure to Kafka, Terraform, or Splunk/New Relic for monitoring and debugging
- Basic understanding of Java or Scala to support engineering collaboration
