About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work in a team of engineers to ensure technical excellence and smooth delivery within a Scrum framework
Mentor more junior team members and help enforce best practices
Write and review impactful Scala code, including code and configuration related to Kubernetes and GitLab deployments
Actively contribute to improving development processes
Facilitate technical decisions to keep the team on track and owned services healthy in production
Develop, implement, and maintain best practices and standards that drive quality and operational excellence
Perform quality control through effective code reviews and address technical debt alongside product development
Collaborate with Solutions Architects to create and review architectural documentation
Collaborate with Product on planning, work sizing, risks, dependencies, requirements, and sprint alignment

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of progressive experience as a software engineer, preferably within high-growth or real-time systems like betting or transactional platforms
Extensive engineering experience with Scala and related frameworks (Zio, Cats Effect)
Experience building and maintaining APIs for high-throughput, real-time applications
Experience utilizing AWS for cloud-native architectures
Experience with Kafka and other NRT messaging platforms
Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Cassandra, Redis, and PostgreSQL
Experience with observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace
Experience designing software architecture for scalable, distributed systems
Strong expertise in Agile product delivery, Scrum, and Extreme Programming practices
Demonstrated bias toward action and ownership over key initiatives with a delivery-focused mindset
