About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to committee leaders and align initiatives with organizational strategy and goals
  • Execute logistics and operations for committee activities and programs, including agendas, minutes, project status reports, and administrative reports
  • Research, analyze, create, and update project materials and resources, including project plans, toolkits, rosters, spreadsheets, web pages, PowerPoint decks, reports, brochures, and summaries
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among committees and CLA teams, including Marketing, Web Team, and Member Services
  • Oversee the committee appointment process, including applications, applicant tracking, review sessions, and communicating decisions
  • Manage special projects, initiatives, campaigns, challenges, competitions, and in-person events from concept through execution
  • Collaborate with the CLA President on the ABA House of Delegates appointments process
  • Communicate relevant information to committee leaders and CLA professional teams
  • Promote CLA activities to increase membership and attendance
  • Negotiate with outside vendors
  • Ensure compliance with CLA operational policies and procedures
  • Respond to member leaders’ questions within 24 hours and resolve issues through completion
  • Establish relationships with external stakeholders and drive partnerships supporting educational and professional development offerings
  • Represent CLA at programs and functions and coordinate activities with staff and outside agencies
  • Coordinate publicity, materials, speakers, registration, and programs for CLA MCLE programs
  • Manage office, department, or unit budgetary and administrative procedures and workflow
  • Prepare, recommend, and manage departmental budgets, including financial analysis, invoices, expenditures, and revenue accounts
  • Conduct research and data analysis, report findings, and recommend solutions to administrative problems
  • Coordinate implementation and operation of new programs and administrative procedures
  • Consult with Committee Chairs and staff regarding agendas, logistics, programs, and projects
  • Support CLA leadership and the California Lawyers Foundation as necessary
  • Handle organizational and administrative meeting tasks and prepare action summaries
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the role’s responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent
  • Three to five years of experience organizing and managing projects/programs
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of budget preparation and management
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize policies, programs, projects, and procedures and understand their interaction with CLA’s general policies and procedures
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including mentoring staff and leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong knowledge of computer information systems, including personal computer applications, spreadsheet programs, word processing, graphics, and network systems
  • Strong research skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal abilities, and project coordination experience
  • Ability to undertake overnight, out-of-town travel within California
