About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations from prospect identification through stewardship
  • Identify and secure high-value gift commitments through strategic engagement and solicitation
  • Lead annual campaigns, including monthly giving programs, direct mail, and online fundraising appeals
  • Represent CMHA Ontario at local, regional, and community events to expand donor networks
  • Research, identify, and qualify grant opportunities
  • Develop grant proposals and customized funding presentations
  • Coordinate the complete grant lifecycle, including support letters, budgets, and grantor reporting requirements
  • Establish, execute, and report on stewardship plans, annual targets, and initiatives
  • Recognize donors through impact reports and personalized acknowledgments
  • Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM and provide weekly reporting
  • Develop and maintain fundraising operations policies and procedures in compliance with CRA regulations and organizational guidelines
  • Oversee donor care, retention activities, donor communications, donation processing, data management, and donor inquiries
  • Supervise and mentor department staff
  • Provide coaching and performance management
  • Promote collaboration and continuous improvement within the team
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and talent management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years’ related professional experience, with a demonstrated track record of achievement in fundraising and/or fund development
  • Understanding of the community-based sector is an asset
  • Experience with the charitable or non-profit sector is valuable
  • Proven success in developing, securing, and stewarding complex and multi-faceted funding relationships
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills
  • Ability to proactively identify and pursue new funding opportunities
  • Ability to develop proposals and manage multiple funding priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Strategic, highly organized, and proactive approach
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior leadership and internal teams
  • G license required
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination required as a condition of employment
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field is an asset
