About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise, co-ordinate, and provide direction, guidance, and instruction to sales associates during assigned shifts
  • Authorize payments, refunds, exchanges, and merchandise returns in accordance with company policy
  • Sell cannabis products and accessories, greet and assist customers, and ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Resolve customer requests, complaints, operational issues, and supply shortages, escalating to management where required
  • Maintain inventory and support receiving, stocking, merchandising, product availability, and inventory control
  • Train employees on company standards, customer service expectations, and operational procedures
  • Handle cash transactions, reconciliations, deposits, and cash-handling procedures
  • Act as key holder for opening and/or closing the store and securing the premises
  • Verify customer identification and enforce Alberta minimum-age requirements and cannabis retail regulations
  • Ensure secure storage, handling, sale, and documentation of cannabis products
  • Support sales targets and sales initiatives
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, visual merchandising, and presentation
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, security procedures, and applicable legislation
  • Support the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with daily operations and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of retail work experience is required
  • Cannabis retail experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated sales and service orientation
  • Ability to train, motivate, and lead staff
  • Strong time-management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic office administration skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Thorough understanding of applicable health and safety legislation
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts
  • Ability to work at different store locations
  • Valid SellSafe certification as required by the AGLC
  • Must meet all AGLC licensing/registration requirements applicable to retail cannabis staff
  • Successful completion of all mandatory company compliance and health & safety training
  • Valid First Aid certification is considered an asset
