About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwrite Equine & Livestock mortality and liability business within underwriting authority and the Company’s Business Plan
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients
  • Research and develop new business opportunities
  • Collaborate with underwriting and support units to use internal resources efficiently
  • Control written business and take corrective action on poorly performing business
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and Canopius policies, procedures and controls
  • Accept business only through approved intermediaries and cover holders
  • Maintain complete and accurate underwriting records
  • Place clients’ needs at the heart of underwriting decisions
  • Assist with development of Junior Underwriting staff
  • Help ensure a fair, equitable, collaborative, supportive and respectful workplace
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Successful and profitable track record
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on data and risk analysis
  • Ability to positively impact long-term business success in planning, organization and development
  • Product development experience or capability
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office
  • Working knowledge of the US market
