About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the underwriting process and policy lifecycle end-to-end
- Support underwriters in acquiring and retaining business
- Work directly with brokers to obtain information, fulfill servicing needs and resolve issues
- Liaise with Canopius functions on data, servicing and cash flow issues
- Clear new business submissions and follow up on missing broker information
- Initiate sanctions checks and escalate hits to underwriters
- Perform pre-analysis/triage of new and renewal submissions against underwriting rules and guidelines
- Prepare quote letters and binder documents
- Perform catastrophe modelling when required
- Process transactions in the policy administration system
- Obtain surplus lines producer licensing information for non-admitted business
- Maintain accurate electronic underwriting files
- Issue policies and reinsurance certificates where applicable
- Obtain renewal and loss information
- Generate premium invoices and support collections and discrepancy resolution
- Issue endorsements and process cancellations
- Follow up with brokers on outstanding subjectivities
- Support ceded facultative reinsurance administration
- Process broker of record transactions
- Ensure policies are issued within SLA timeframes and booked before monthly closing
- Participate in system testing, enhancements and assigned projects
Requirements

- Ability to work under pressure as part of a small team and work independently
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality/accuracy
- Ability to work and learn with a sense of urgency
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft O365 tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
- Basic financial statement knowledge or interest to learn
- Prior insurance exposure required
