About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own cross-team work that moves the platform forward across engineering tribes
  • Run technical programmes including platform migrations, dependency removals, standardisation initiatives, decommissioning, and large infrastructure changes
  • Break broad goals into sequenced plans with named owners
  • Facilitate technical discussions, resolve unclear ownership, and secure decisions with committed dates
  • Maintain accurate programme views covering phases, blockers, owners, and delivery dates
  • Produce concise status reporting for engineering leadership
  • Drive and improve company-wide engineering processes, including tech design review
  • Gather engineering feedback and turn findings into concrete process changes
  • Instrument processes using metrics such as review turnaround time and rework rate
  • Query data using SQL, dashboards, and APIs, and reconcile Jira reports with system data
  • Identify and automate recurring manual engineering work, using AI where valuable
  • Build playbooks, templates, runbooks, automated reporting, and agent workflows
  • Help colleagues adopt effective AI practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in STEM or other quantitative field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in technical programme management, engineering operations, or delivery management within a high-performance software engineering environment
  • Proven track record of delivering cross-team technical programmes in a multi-team organisation
  • Strong technical understanding of modern software systems, including services, deployments, queues, metrics, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, releases, and rollbacks
  • Ability to read architecture diagrams, tech design documents, and ADRs, and judge whether they are ready for review
  • Proficiency in SQL and comfort working with dashboards, APIs, and Jira
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve personal and team productivity
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the confidence to drive decisions where ownership is unclear
  • Clear, concise written communication for senior audiences
  • Strong ownership mentality: proactive, accountable, and execution-focused
