About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce a quarterly expectation for expected lifetime credit losses and the allowance for loans not expected to be repaid under GAAP accounting standards
  • Create rigorous credit loss forecasts shared with executive-level senior stakeholders
  • Work with Accounting/Finance, Capital Risk, firstline business teams, and other cross-functional partners
  • Gain familiarity with underlying models and data
  • Engage with firstline teams across lines of business to track business strategy changes
  • Assess internal and external trends to derive insights into credit performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and forecasts
  • Develop business strategies supporting growth, profitability, and competitive success
  • Potentially manage and develop 1–2 analysts; coach and mentor associates
  • Develop product and pricing strategies and lead product-level modeling and analytics
  • Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts and build targeted customer insights
  • Create risk models and test hypotheses through monitoring and analysis
  • Manage delivery of business intent, build business requirements, and execute product strategy
  • Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
  • Partner with IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other Capital One teams to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field, or Master's Degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration, currently held or expected by the scheduled start date
  • Quantitative field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Proven track record of analytical decision making and problem solving
  • Strong quantitative orientation
  • Strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity
  • People leadership and team capability-building experience
  • Strong executive written and oral communication and strategic influencing skills
  • Ability to drive and execute short- and long-term goals in an uncertain, fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Business or quantitative field
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in analysis
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in financial services
  • Preferred: 1+ year of experience in consulting
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in people management
