Key responsibilities & impact

Lead adoption and responsible use of emerging AI and automation capabilities to improve cloud platform scalability, reliability, and efficiency
Stay current with technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor engineers
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions supporting millions of Americans
Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud provider tools and services
Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set standards for design, development, and operational excellence
Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
Identify improvement opportunities and support well-managed cloud solutions
Influence long-term technology strategy through evaluation of emerging tools and practices
Integrate cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, audit, and change-management risk awareness into daily work
Lead technical strategy for a portfolio of cloud initiatives
Mentor developers building scalable cloud platforms supporting regulatory needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
At least 5 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience does not apply
At least 2 years of experience in cloud engineering
Preferred: 6+ years of experience coding with Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
Preferred: 3+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI)
Preferred: 3+ years of experience in CI/CD orchestration, Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks, and Automated Governance using Policy-as-Code DSLs
Preferred: one or more active certifications related to cloud infrastructure management or security
Preferred: experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native patterns
Preferred: experience designing and supporting cloud networking, security, and identity integrations
Preferred: experience troubleshooting and supporting production cloud environments
Preferred: experience leveraging AI-driven tooling for cloud operations and infrastructure optimization
Preferred: experience driving cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives
