About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead comprehensive external public relations, media relations, and thought leadership campaigns at the intersection of enterprise AI, cybersecurity, venture capital, and open-source technologies
Partner with business, engineering, science, product, venture capital, and cybersecurity leaders to translate complex technical innovations into compelling narratives
Advise senior leadership and cultivate relationships with top-tier technology and mainstream media outlets
Engage with AI, cybersecurity, and open-source communities, technology partners, industry consortia, and external stakeholders
Serve as a strategic communications advisor to senior leaders and partners
Plan and execute data-backed external communications and PR campaigns aligned with enterprise and line-of-business priorities
Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships
Drive media relations efforts to secure visibility in priority outlets
Leverage data to evaluate results, extract insights, and optimize future programs
Oversee team operations, including budgeting, media agencies, and development of best practices
Stay informed about industry trends to enhance communication strategies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 8 years of communications experience
Exceptional leadership, judgment, teamwork, and results focus
Demonstrated experience in technology communications
Preferred: 9+ years of public relations or communications experience in enterprise technology
Preferred: Deep, demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, venture capital, or open-source software ecosystems
Must not require new employment authorization sponsorship or immigration-related employer support
Ability to work at the designated office location under Capital One’s hybrid policy
