Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create strategy and lead a team through high-priority projects for Capital One
  • Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to influence results impacting the company’s bottom line
  • Lead projects from day one alongside key stakeholders across the company
  • Develop operational strategy for complex challenges in a large, growing design organization
  • Advise and influence design, business, and peer leaders on operational excellence
  • Develop and manage cross-functional teams of design program managers, operations professionals, designers, and project resources
  • Lead adherence to and evolution of design standards, practice management, delivery principles, and processes
  • Provide functional leadership on human-centered strategy, research, alignment, analysis, process improvement, and change management
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional partners to improve products and experiences
  • Advocate for the design process across the business
  • Partner with design leadership to scale organizational impact
  • Craft and execute operational strategy for allocation, resourcing, and prioritization
  • Bring order to complex programs, maintain portfolios, and drive design work forward
  • Develop and manage metrics for design impact and experience-team health
  • Partner with enterprise teams to implement human-centered operational programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
  • At least 8 years of project management experience
  • At least 3 years of people management experience
  • At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position
  • Masters / MBA degree (preferred)
  • 10+ years of project or program management of design deliverables and operations management (preferred)
  • 4+ years of people management experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years managing design teams (preferred)
  • 4+ years using and managing design tools (preferred)
  • 3+ years working with corporate teams (preferred)
  • Experience working directly with designers, researchers, and strategists (preferred)
  • Expertise in design development processes (preferred)
  • Expertise in understanding the PDLC/SDLC (preferred)
  • Expertise in design systems, design quality, and design measures (preferred)
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification (preferred)
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills (preferred)
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills (preferred)
