About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with Software Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to deliver high-performing features for 100M+ customers
  • Provide technical leadership for front-end architecture and design patterns
  • Mentor engineers through feedback, code reviews, and AI-assisted development best practices
  • Identify and clear technical obstacles
  • Provide subject matter expertise in performance, accessibility, and architecture
  • Contribute to front-end architecture decisions, API design reviews, and reusable component development
  • Lead the design and development of client Backend-for-Frontends (BFFs) and micro frontend or federated application architectures
  • Define engineering best practices for feature flags and canary rollouts
  • Champion adoption of agentic AI tools and AI-native development practices
  • Apply modern web ecosystem expertise, including PWAs, Wasm, mobile web, and Service Workers
  • Drive quality, performance, accessibility, coding, testing, and user experience standards
  • Own feature architecture end-to-end across customer-facing micro-frontends, back-end architectures, supplier data, shopping experiences, booking pipelines, and ground transportation products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply
  • At least 3 years of experience developing applications using TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte)
  • 4+ years of experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
  • 4+ years of experience with modern web frameworks, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, and web performance tuning
  • Experience designing scalable front-end architectures and reusable component libraries
  • Experience implementing and maintaining comprehensive automated testing
  • Experience designing and developing client Backend-for-Frontends (BFFs), using technologies such as GraphQL and efficient networking protocols such as gRPC/Protobuf
  • Experience with micro frontend (MFE) architectures or federated architectural patterns
  • Experience with metrics-driven canary release and feature flag strategies
  • Expertise with agentic AI coding tools and AI-assisted workflow patterns
