About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems
- Share knowledge of technology trends, experiment with emerging technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor engineers
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions supporting millions of customers
- Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set standards for design, development, and operational excellence
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
- Identify improvement opportunities, refactor systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance
- Influence long-term technology strategy in a “you build it, you own it” environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
- At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)
- No employer-sponsored immigration or work authorization support for new applicants
- Preferred: 7+ years coding with more than two listed languages; 3+ years with databases; 3+ years with cloud technologies; 4+ years with open source frameworks; 3+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks; 4+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs; 3+ years with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing; 3+ years with Git-based version control; 3+ years troubleshooting cloud environments; experience with AI coding tools and interactive AI tooling; 1+ year mentoring engineers; 1+ year using observability for distributed-system performance; experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts; experience establishing coding standards and design patterns
