About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Shape and advance the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Enterprise Architecture tooling
Design and champion enterprise-wide architectural patterns using automated, AI-driven solutions for governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance
Introduce event-driven architectures, mesh data topologies, and next-generation cloud-native designs
Oversee and de-risk the architectural design, testing, deployment, and optimization of critical distributed systems, microservices, and full-stack platforms
Write code, conduct architecture reviews, create proofs-of-concept, and evaluate codebases
Use Java, Python, Go, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, open-source RDBMS/NoSQL databases, and AWS cloud services
Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, data scientists, and risk/governance partners to build secure fintech solutions
Mentor engineers, elevate technical standards, drive open-source contributions, and reduce architectural silos
Experiment with emerging technologies such as LLMs and automated compliance agents and participate in technical communities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
At least 6 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience does not apply
At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred: 9+ years of experience with Golang and Python
Preferred: 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure
Preferred: 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
Preferred: Experience with interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion
