Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers using distributed microservices and full-stack systems
Create solutions that meet the company’s regulatory needs
Stay current with technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and participate in internal and external technology communities
Mentor members of the engineering community
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions serving millions of Americans
Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services
Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence
Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
Identify improvement opportunities, implement targeted refactoring, reduce technical debt, and improve system performance
Influence long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices in a ‘you build it, you own it’ environment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
At least 4 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience does not apply
At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
No employer-sponsored immigration support or new employment authorization sponsorship available
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred: 7+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala
Preferred: 3+ years with databases and database management systems
Preferred: 3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Preferred: 4+ years contributing to open source frameworks
Preferred: 3+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
Preferred: 4+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
Preferred: 3+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
Preferred: 3+ years using Git-based version-control systems
Preferred: 3+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments
Experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots
Preferred: 1+ year mentoring engineers and driving professional development
Preferred: 1+ year using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems
Experience with interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion
Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives
Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams
