Key responsibilities & impact

Provide strategic legal advice on complex issues and business initiatives, including matters affecting customer experience
Translate laws, regulations, and legal requirements into clear, focused guardrails
Build relationships and collaborate with business stakeholders in wide-ranging roles
Understand business needs and provide solutions to achieve desired goals
Collaborate with Legal Department members and business teams to provide consistent, well-reasoned advice
Support Capital One’s Financial Services Division, including its auto finance and technology businesses and AI, machine learning, and other tech-enabled products and solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, government agency, military judge advocate role, or as in-house counsel
Strong communication skills
Desire to work collaboratively
Ability to influence and drive consensus
Successful track record of thriving in a dynamic environment
Willingness to tackle new challenges and novel legal issues
Preferred: 5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, government agency, military judge advocate role, or as in-house counsel
Preferred: Experience advising companies on regulatory compliance, including UDAAP, FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA
Preferred: Experience advising financial-services companies
