About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and implement the future of enterprise payments governance and oversight
- Govern and oversee end-to-end core payments functions across all payment types
- Develop solutions to remediate payments-related challenges and enhance business-as-usual practices
- Work with stakeholders across the company and executives to shape and deliver payments governance strategy
- Design, implement, and manage structural frameworks for enterprise-wide payment risk management
- Develop monitoring and reporting capabilities translating enterprise strategies into operational execution
- Liaise with 1st and 2nd Line of Defense teams
- Oversee governance processes for Real-Time Payments (RTP), ACH, checks, and wire payments
- Provide thought leadership and own day-to-day risk procedure oversight
- Utilize Generative AI capabilities and automation tools to improve risk monitoring and operational efficiency
- Define and oversee risk management frameworks for payment rails
- Partner with 2nd Line of Defense teams to operationalize risk mitigation activities within 1st Line workflows
- Establish and maintain an inventory of business processes supporting the Enterprise Risk Management framework
- Lead ad-hoc compliance and process improvement projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associates Degree or Military Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in risk management, audit, or governance and oversight roles
- At least 4 years experience in the banking or financial services industry
- At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with Issues & Event Management, Risk & Controls, and/or Cybersecurity/Technology Data
- Analytical mindset and experience utilizing Generative AI, agents, Tableau, and automation
- Understanding of global payment processes, networks, and regulatory environments
- Project management skills and experience delivering critical goals and process improvements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- At least 4 years of experience in risk management, audit, or governance and oversight roles preferred
- At least 3 years of project management experience leading cross-functional projects or programs preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in data management or data analysis preferred
- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal and external stakeholders preferred
- At least 3 years of experience working in payments or payments risk management preferred
- At least 3 years of process management experience preferred
- At least 3 years of experience managing technology, cyber risk, issues & events, or process control risks at a financial services company preferred
- Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification or Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP) certification preferred
