About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and make strategic or tactical recommendations using analysis
  • Perform modeling and analytics to assist new products/models for lines of business within the Commercial Bank
  • Support improvements in credit performance by analyzing historical behavior, creating risk models, testing hypotheses, and monitoring results
  • Frame problems, develop and test hypotheses, analyze results, develop solutions, assess operational feasibility, lead implementation, and develop monitoring plans
  • Work with Model Development, Credit Officers, Underwriters, Relationship Managers, Finance, and other Capital One colleagues
  • Evaluate risk-rating and loss-forecasting model prototypes using big data tools and visualization platforms such as Tableau and QuickSight
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights and secure stakeholder buy-in
  • Bridge quantitative modelers and senior business leaders as an analytical lead for upcoming model builds

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 2 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field or a Master's Degree in a quantitative field/MBA with a quantitative concentration, with the required degree obtained by the scheduled start date
  • Quantitative field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business or a quantitative field
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in statistical model building
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in market research
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in SQL querying
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in business analysis
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in consulting
