About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive Capital One's AI and ML platforms supporting the company's real-time information strategy
Lead AI initiatives from concept to production across the AI/ML training and production lifecycle
Work with agentic AI architectures, multi-agent conversational systems, LLM inference, model training, fine-tuning, and monitoring
Deliver high-reliability, real-time customer experiences across credit card, retail banking, auto finance, and other lines of business
Collaborate with researchers, engineers, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders
Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery
Lead technology-focused discussions with senior leadership and provide insights and recommendations
Establish and expand the TPM discipline within the team
Grow and mentor fellow TPMs and build the foundations for the TPM practice
Simplify technical complexity and drive decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science
Drive execution, accountability, follow-through, and business results across teams and reporting boundaries

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in a technical field
At least 9 years of experience managing technical programs
Strong technical background, ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services
Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle
Experience leading technology-focused discussions with senior leadership
Exceptional communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and influencing skills
Quantitative approach to problem solving and systems-thinking ability
Experience helping grow and mentor fellow TPMs and building a TPM practice
Ability to simplify technical complexity and drive decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science
Focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
Experience collaborating across functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries
Highly tuned emotional intelligence, listening skills, and empathy

Preferred: 9+ years designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
Preferred: 5+ years building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing, preferably AWS
