  • Lead multiple Agile engineering teams or programs
  • Provide strategic direction and ensure delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
  • Partner with product, architecture, and platform leaders on multi-year technology roadmaps and investment priorities
  • Develop and manage Lead Engineers and leads
  • Build succession plans and scale leadership capability
  • Align engineering execution with enterprise goals and influence portfolio-level decisions
  • Drive end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • At least 3 years of people management experience
  • Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Preferred: 1+ year leading architectural design reviews and influencing enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies
  • Preferred: 4+ years with database and database management systems
  • Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • Preferred: 4+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
  • Preferred: 4+ years using Git-based version-control systems
  • Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments
  • Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open source frameworks
  • Preferred: 5+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
  • Preferred: 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
  • Preferred: 9+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots
  • Preferred: Experience managing multi-team engineering organizations or leading strategic technical programs
  • Preferred: Experience defining and tracking engineering OKRs
  • Preferred: Experience shaping organization design and talent strategy
