About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products
  • Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions across open-source and SaaS AI technologies
  • Develop foundation model optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput
  • Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
  • Attract and retain AI talent and support team development through mentoring and coaching
  • Translate enterprise AI goals into team roadmaps with measurable outcomes and regular readouts
  • Operationalize Responsible AI through review gates, documentation and evaluation requirements, and rollout/rollback standards
  • Create collaboration interfaces with Research, Data, and Platform teams to accelerate model lifecycle

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in those fields plus at least 4 years of such experience
  • At least 1 year of people leadership experience
  • Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud
  • Experience developing AI and ML technologies using Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang
  • Experience building agentic AI systems and workflows
  • Experience leading technical strategy for a multi-disciplinary AI team
  • Familiarity with MLOps, AI observability, evaluation pipelines, drift monitoring, and model/version governance
  • Track record mentoring engineers/scientists to productize prototypes and meet production SLOs
  • Experience right-sizing models, instance counts, and hardware types based on system requirements
  • Ability to intuitively understand scientific publications and apply novel techniques in production
