About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems
Build solutions that meet the company's regulatory needs
Mentor engineering talent and participate in internal and external technology communities
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions
Lead teams using Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services
Lead multiple Agile engineering teams or programs and provide strategic direction
Ensure delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
Partner with product, architecture, and platform leaders on multi-year technology roadmaps and investment priorities
Develop and manage Lead Engineers and leads, including succession planning and scaling leadership capability
Align engineering execution with enterprise goals and influence portfolio-level decisions and trade-offs
Drive end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply)
At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
At least 3 years of people management experience

Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred: 1+ year leading architectural design reviews and influencing enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies
Preferred: 4+ years of experience with databases and database management systems
Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Preferred: 4+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
Preferred: 4+ years using Git-based version-control systems
Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments
Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open source frameworks
Preferred: 5+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
Preferred: 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
Preferred: 9+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala
Preferred: Experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots
Preferred: Experience managing multi-team engineering organizations or leading strategic technical programs spanning multiple domains
Preferred: Experience defining and tracking engineering OKRs aligned to business outcomes
Preferred: Experience shaping organization design and talent strategy for scaling engineering capabilities
