About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a point of contact for controls-related projects and inquiries
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on new control builds and modernization of existing controls
  • Drive initiatives to automate and improve control processes
  • Develop a scalable controls advisory function and framework to support the GPN business
  • Help ensure alignment of first-line controls with relevant regulations, risks, internal policies, and industry best practices
  • Partner with second and third lines of defense to ensure a cohesive and effective overall control environment
  • Provide oversight and guidance on implementation and adherence to the controls governance framework
  • Embed controls governance principles within day-to-day operations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the first, second, and third lines of defense

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Risk Management experience, with expertise in control creation, testing, methodology, and design best practices
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to efficiently mitigate risk and improve processes
  • At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree
  • Preferred: 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross-functional projects and programs in Risk
  • Preferred: 5+ years of Financial Services risk management experience
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in Data Analysis
  • Preferred: 3+ years of people management experience
  • Preferred: Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Preferred: Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, or Business Process Management
  • Preferred: PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
