About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain an organization-wide view of Shopping's current and planned work, including technical and business dependencies
Influence enterprise teams in advance to secure platform support, tools, access, and approvals
Prepare and present Shopping's progress and goals to Capital One senior leadership
Secure decisions, investment, and buy-in needed for Shopping's work
Navigate security, risk, compliance, procurement, and platform governance on Shopping's behalf
Broker collaboration between Shopping and central platform and infrastructure teams
Drive cross-team dependency orchestration for major cross-cutting initiatives
Represent Shopping's engineering and explain or defend architecture and technical choices to enterprise platform, security, and risk partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and data architecture
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Preferred: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture
10+ years of professional coding experience in commonly used languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala
8+ years of experience with databases and database management systems
10+ years of professional experience across the full system development lifecycle
5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
10+ years of experience with networking protocols and integration with third-party distributed systems
5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams
2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards
Expertise in strategic application of agentic AI coding tools
