About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain an organization-wide view of Shopping's current work, plans, technical dependencies, and business dependencies
Influence the enterprise in advance by arranging platform support, tools, access, and approvals
Prepare and present Shopping's progress and goals to Capital One senior leadership
Secure decisions, investment, and buy-in needed for Shopping's work
Navigate security, risk, compliance, procurement, and platform governance on Shopping's behalf
Broker between Shopping and central platform and infrastructure teams
Drive cross-team dependency orchestration for major cross-cutting initiatives
Represent Shopping's engineering and explain and defend architecture and technical choices to enterprise platform, security, and risk partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing, and data architecture
Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Preferred: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture
Preferred: 10+ years of professional experience coding in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala
Preferred: 8+ years of experience with databases and database management systems
Preferred: 10+ years of professional experience across the full system development lifecycle
Preferred: 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Preferred: 10+ years of experience with networking protocols and third-party distributed systems
Preferred: 5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams
Preferred: 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards
Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools
