About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop new product development and existing systems on Yocto-based Linux platforms
- Maintain and support the Yocto build system in a CI/CD environment
- Package and deploy software images
- Configure, modify, and integrate the kernel and embedded bootloaders
- Port custom drivers and apply patches to legacy packages
- Design and develop automation to validate builds in the CI/CD pipeline
- Maintain close connection to the Yocto Project and collaborate with the open-source community
- Work with Agile, SAFe, and related project management tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, and IBM Jazz
- Collaborate with geographically distributed teams
- Establish best practices and guidelines for Linux builds and deployments
- Work under minimal direction
Requirements
What you’ll need- BE/ME or BTech/MTech in Electronics, or BE/BTech in Electronics, or ME/MTech in Computer Science
- 10+ years of experience in the listed areas
- Professional experience in software development using C/C++
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python and Shell
- Passion for Linux and open source
- Solid experience with embedded Linux, including Yocto/OpenEmbedded or Buildroot
- Experience with U-Boot, Linux kernel configuration, and Device Tree
- Experience building Linux platforms with open-source packages and related testing
- Proficiency with GNU (Cross-)Toolchain and (C)Make
- Experience creating images for hardware platforms such as ARM series, including NXP and TI
- Experience with modern DevOps practices and tools, including test-driven development, Git, automated builds and tests, and CI/CD with GitLab, Jenkins, and AWS
- Git expertise including merging, rebasing, and cherry-picking
- Expert knowledge of build automation/DevOps tools such as Bitbucket, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Chef/Ansible
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and cybersecurity principles, theories, and concepts
- Hands-on experience building and handling VMs and containers using tools such as Docker
- Preferred: Linux and Windows administration
- Preferred: CVE and Linux security requirements
- Preferred: secure boot, encryption, and software update mechanisms
