About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct safety meetings, audits, inspections, and preventative care and safety training programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies across the Massachusetts and New Hampshire footprint
- Act as a safety resource to local, regional, and corporate employees and managers
- Perform internal inspections and audits and report results to the management team
- Coordinate and present safety training for Casella personnel at all levels
- Investigate and assist local managers and supervisors with accidents and injuries
- Prepare and file injury and incident reports and track claims
- Collaborate with an adjuster to manage and close accident claims
- Maintain regulatory documentation and perform job safety analysis
- Develop an annual personal growth program with the Regional Safety Manager
- Ensure adherence to accident prevention programs and safety regulations at all Casella locations
- Participate in training and learning opportunities and perform other duties supporting the company vision, mission, and core values
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree
- 5-7 years of safety management experience
- Focus on OSHA and FMCSA regulations
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Legally eligible to work in the US
- Ability to travel regionally and nationally occasionally for extended periods of time
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing
- Physical ability to handle objects 50-75 lbs. frequently
- Ability to walk, stand, climb and work under many different weather conditions
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to develop, implement and train employees in safe workplace practices
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Online research skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
- Self-directed and customer-focused
- Proactive and able to motivate others
- Bachelor’s degree and experience or interest in an environmental and/or sustainability field preferred
