About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own day-to-day management accounting processes, including month-end/fiscal close activities
  • Prepare journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Execute, monitor, and maintain key financial and accounting controls for compliance with internal corporate policies
  • Research, analyze, and resolve complex financial discrepancies through root-cause analysis
  • Implement sustainable process improvements
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate critical accounting issues to management when appropriate
  • Lead or support accounting projects, process improvements, and business initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Partner with IT on system enhancements, software implementations, and technical issue resolution
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Finance, Tax, Audit, Financial Planning, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, and Supply Chain
  • Provide accounting guidance and support across departments and management levels
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial reporting, operational metrics, and analysis templates for leadership decision-making
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members
  • Assist with onboarding new associates on core accounting tools and processes
  • Report directly to the Accounting Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field is preferred
  • 1–3 years of professional accounting, Accounts Payable, corporate finance, or related operational experience is preferred
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, financial reporting procedures, and account reconciliation processes
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data formatting
  • Experience creating, maintaining, or updating data queries and financial reporting tools
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Superb interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams and various levels of management
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly detailed and organized with strong time-management skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented
  • Eager to learn, take ownership, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
