About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide business development expertise to country leadership and proposal teams for institutional donor opportunities
  • Manage pre-positioning, capture, and proposal development processes through timely, high-quality submissions
  • Coordinate proposals, opportunity analysis, go/no-go decisions, partner inputs, and review panels
  • Lead or support proposal writing and integrate staff and partner contributions
  • Lead or support development of proposal budgets
  • Facilitate co-creation and lead technical approaches, theories of change, and project designs
  • Guide partner identification and negotiate CRS’ role in proposal consortia
  • Develop resource mobilization strategies and strengthen relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders
  • Research, track, and analyze funding opportunities and CRS’ competitive position
  • Develop BD tools, resources, and guidance
  • Train and mentor staff across the CRS Business Development Cycle
  • Maintain data on past performance and corporate capacity for proposal submissions
  • Contribute to CRS’ Business Development Community of Practice and strategic initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in international development, international relations, or related field
  • Minimum eight years of international development experience
  • Strong strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with institutional donor regulations, policies, procedures, and priorities
  • Familiarity with institutional donor technical and cost requirements
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Exceptional writing skills with expert command of English grammar and AP style
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office packages, information management systems, and AI tools
  • Fluency in English required
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% strongly preferred
  • Ability to legally work where the position is performed
  • Pre-employment medical clearance for positions requiring residence or frequent travel outside a home country
