About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide overall technical leadership for the CIHS project across malaria, MNCH, laboratory systems, disease surveillance, health information systems, supply chain strengthening, and other health systems strengthening interventions
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact with the Department of State and public, private, and non-government stakeholders when requested
- Lead development and execution of an integrated technical strategy across disciplines, countries, and consortium partners
- Ensure technical activities deliver high-quality, timely results aligned with donor priorities, country needs, global best practices, CRS standards, and MEAL policies
- Manage, supervise, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of technical advisors
- Foster collaboration, manage team dynamics and staff well-being, tailor development plans, and complete performance assessments
- Contribute to staffing plans and recruitment of senior technical staff
- Manage and mitigate technical risks and monitor national health priorities, policies, and contextual factors
- Ensure adherence to staff safety, security, and safeguarding policies and plans
- Promote responsible stewardship of agency and donor resources and support budget management, reporting, and accountability
- Maintain relationships with consortium partner organizations and coordinate partner staff roles and activities
- Foster learning, collaborative problem-solving, sharing of lessons learned, adaptive management, and continuous improvement
- Identify technical capacity gaps and propose training, mentoring, and technical assistance for CRS, partner, and government stakeholders
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for technical programming across Guinea, Liberia, Mali, and Togo
- Support achievement of project results and transition of health programs to country ownership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in international development, International Relations or a relevant technical area
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant management and technical experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing donor funds, including multi-country grants
- Recognized technical experience and qualifications in the sector, demonstrated by peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, etc.
- Experience coaching and mentoring project staff
- Demonstrated successful management of complex, high-value, multi-activity projects and logistics
- Staff management experience conducive to a learning environment
- Strong knowledge and experience in budget management
- Experience with MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), web conferencing applications, and information and budget management systems
- Strong strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong relationship management abilities with donors and government counterparts
- Team leadership abilities with diverse and multidisciplinary teams
- English required
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%
- Must be legally able to work where the position is performed
- Successful candidates must clear pre-employment medical clearance when applicable
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
- Preferred: Experience engaging partners and strengthening partnerships; knowledge of CRS partnership strategy
- Additional proficiency in French preferred
